This beautiful French influence parlor desk dates from turn-of-the-century and has lovely pastoral scenes painted on the front. The desk is made of walnut with inlaid string banding on the three top drawers and brass ormolu trim. What is unique about this desk is the way it opens ... the lower drawer, when pulled out, lifts the roll-top portion of the desk automatically. Then the lower section flips forward to rest on the drawer for support. The interior is lined in felt which shows some wear but is original to the piece. Overall in excellent condition. There has been some painting restoration done to the center right panel. Has older hand-scribed dovetails so piece may be older than we have indicated. Measures 29" wide x 19" deep x 42" high overall.
