This is a very rare flame mahogany lingerie chest.  It is the only one of its kind we have ever run across!  There are three recessed drawers on the top section with one larger drawer beneath.  Brass hardware is all original.  Openwork carved backsplash/crest is not original to the piece but is from the same time period and matches perfectly.  It has been attached with two small angle brackets from behind and can be removed with no loss of integrity to the original piece if desired.  This was the way it was purchased and we thought it was a nice addition, so we left it as it was.  Entire piece has been refinished.  Marked "Solid Honduras Mahogany Colonial Mfg. Co." inside one of the drawers. Measures 23-1/2" wide x 15-1/2" deep x 45-1/2" high overall.  The width of the case section in the center is 21".  The height without the crest is 36".  Circa 1930's.
